butterflies of North Haven

17 people went on the Valley Service Road trip - nothing spectacular showed up this year and things were kind of slow.  A lot of puddling going on, especially with the Cabbage Whites.  Below is what we saw.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (3-4)

Cabbage Whites (abundant- puddling in numbers)

Clouded Sulphur

Orange Sulphur (3-4)

Eastern Tailed Blue (common - several puddling)

Summer Azure (3-4)

Pearl Crescent

Question Mark (3 - one puddling)

Eastern Comma (puddling)

Red Admiral (3-4 - one puddling)

Mourning Cloak (puddling)

Viceroy

Monarch

Silver-spotted Skipper (2)

Least Skipper (5-6)

European Skipper (very common)

Tawny-edged Skipper

Zabulon Skipper (2 females)

Dun Skipper

3 Virginia Ctenuchas
