milkweed

I'm expecting to move next month & unfortunately can't bring my milkweed
patch with me.  However, many plants have produced pods & I'm hoping to
plant a new patch.  Can anyone tell me when the best time would be to
harvest the pods & how to store them until planting?  I don't want to be
monarch-less in my new home!!

Speaking of the monarchs, I've released 8 (& given 3 chrysalides away),
have 8 chrysalides & 8 caterpillars (& 1 egg).  I'm hoping my milkweed
will hold out long enough for everyone!
