>From Hank Golet, 10/5/02. Biking in Old Lyme late this morning stopped at Old Lyme Landscape, where half of the zinnia beds have been tilled under, found male and female of both FIREY and SACHEM SKIPPERS. On Old Shore Rd. a CLOUDLESS SULFUR flew across The road in front of me.
Drove to East Haddam in the afternoon and found the most ragged MEADOW FRITILLARY possible, an OCOLA SKIPPER, (pretty far from the coast) and 2 BRONZE COPPERS. From what I read about the coppers, this seems quite late for the second brood and I don't think we are supposed to have a third brood here. The copper was only nectaring on asters as was the other that I saw. Picture of Copper (Female), which looks quite fresh, attached and I have an image of the Meadow, if anyone wants to see it, but could not get the Ocola. I also have different views of the copper but this about the best. I would be interested in hearing information on Bronze Copper broods in our area.
