Slightly off the subject

We are living in the
Mojave Desert, so a trip
down to Los Angeles to
the gardens of the Huntington
Library was a treat.  Just
seeing grass!  A beautiful,
large butterfly with vertical
stripes caught my eye....that
I haven't identified yet.

Last week, in the desert...
something got into my (small)
fish pond and ate five fantail
goldfish...one is left, and
so traumatized he won't come
up to feed.  I guess goldfish
have better memories than previously
thought...

My question is, would the peregrine
falcon I saw perched in a tree
yesterday, catch goldfish....and
knock over the potted lilypads?
