Seen at Walden Preserve today.
Swallowtails: Spicebush, Tiger
Cabbage White,
Sulphurs: clouded, Orange
Hairstreaks: Banded, Stripped, White M, Hickory (?)
Summer Azure
Eastern Tailed Blue
Great Spangled
Pearl Crescent
Anglewings: Comma, Question Mark
Amer. Lady
Red Admiral
Buckeye
Monarch
Appl. Brown
Little Wood satyr
Silver Spotted Skipper
Northern Cloudywing (very worn)
European Skipper (hundreds, thousands?)
Zabulon Skipper
There were dozens of Hairstreaks (I stopped counting at 36) mainly Banded,
some Stripped, 1 White M and Hickory(?) photo attached.
Great photo ops as they were nectaring on Milkweed along the mowed trail in
Bodman Meadow (close to the parking area). All were freshly emerged. Also
plenty of freshly emerged Anglewings also nectaring on the Milkweed.
For those who have not been to Walden Preserve it is a great place to see
butterflies, birds and dragonflies.
There will be a butterfly walk there July 1 at 9:00 AM
