Hammo/tagging

Stopped by Hammo yesterday to check out the monarchs--it was fairly windy, so I wasn't surprised to only see ten or so. They were in various stages of repair--one missing most of its left wings, several looking fairly fresh, and everything in between. Two were tagged--one of the fairly fresh ones, and one less so. I asked a woman painting in the garden, and she told me that there were indeed people tagging that day, so I didn't check the numbers.

Also had one definite sighting of a Fiery Skipper, one Gray Hairstreak, one Orange Sulphur, one male Black Swallowtail, one female Black Swallowtail, one Spicebush Swallowtail, and several clearwing moths.

Don't forget about the tagging this weekend--remember that if it's raining Saturday, it will happen Sunday!

I still have two Spicebush Swallowtail caterpillars. They're both fairly large and green and don't seem to mind being visible during the daytime anymore. When we were looking at them this afternoon, they both puffed up and the larger one seemed to be shaking its head at us!
