Butterfly Sightings

On Monday, July 2nd, Bill Banks, Greg Hanisek and I visited sites Canaan  
where, despite the cool temperatures, clouds and a strong breeze, we found a  
total of 29 species of butterflies.  The list for the day is as  follows:
 
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (1)
Spicebush Swallowtail (1)
Cabbage White (11)
Clouded Sulphur (2)
Orange Sulphur (2)
Eastern Tailed Blue (3)
Summer Azure (5)
Great Spangled Fritillary (7)
Meadow Fritillary (6)
Pearl Crescent (1)
Baltimore Checkerspot (3)
Question Mark (1)
Compton Tortoiseshell (3)
Red Admiral (2)
Red-spotted Admiral (1)
Northern Pearly Eye (4)
Eyed Brown (40) (Hollenbeck WMA)
Common Ringlet (2)
Common Wood Nymph (2)
Monarch (9)
Least Skipper (4)
European Skipper (80)
Peck's Skipper (1) (very worn)
Long Dash (1)
Northern Broken Dash (2)
Delaware Skipper (2)
Hobomok Skipper (2)
Dion Skipper (5) (My first of the year; at Hollenbeck  WMA)
Pepper & Salt Skipper (1) (a  late date) 
 
On the way home, we stopped at Goshen WMA area were we found the following  
butterflies:

Baltimore Checkerspot (4)
Least Skipper (1)
European Skipper (30)
Long Dash (1)
