one more note from Hammo

Forgot to mention--when I was at Hammo on Thursday, I found three wings of what appeared to be one male Monarch. I say that it appeared to be male, because there was a hole in the one lower wing that I found, and it looked like its "spot" had been removed...or eaten. I know when birds or other bugs eat Monarchs, they usually just eat the body. I have recently heard the wings being described as "like fingernails", i.e. inedible. Any thoughts?

Diane
