On Saturday, 10/20, I visited Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven. While
butterfly numbers and species variety continue to dwindle as we go through
October, I was still able to find 8 species of butterflies. The list for the day
is as follows:

Cabbage White (4)
Clouded Sulphur (9)
Orange Sulphur (35)
Variegated Fritillary (2) (A mated pair; also, at least for the moment, a
record late date for the species in the state.)
American Lady (1)
Common Buckeye (4)
Monarch (100)
Fiery Skipper (7) (5 males, 2 females)

Lenny Brown
Wallingford
