Stopped by Hammonassett State Park in Madison, CT this afternoon to drop off a flyer for the Connecticut Butterfly Association tagging next Saturday (www.ctbutterfly.org). Saw about 10 Monarchs flying, in various stages of repair. One very worn, missing significant portions of wings, was wearing a tag--I didn't want to net it in its condition, but I did photograph it. I'm fairly sure the tag # was JBA 629. The tag was upside down. Not sure whether someone tagged it there earlier today or if it traveled from points north--I am posting this locally as well as on the dplex, just in case.
Also flying--a few Cabbage Whites, a few American Ladies, one Black Swallowtail, one Silver-Spotted Skipper, MANY Clearwing Moths, and a hummingbird.
