9/22- Despite mostly cloudy skies, during a visit to Lighthouse Point Park,
Dori Sosensky and I found a total of 14 species of butterflies. The list for
the day is as follows:
Black Swallowtail (2) (both males)
Cabbage White (12)
Clouded Sulphur (9)
Orange Sulphur (30)
Cloudless Sulphur (2)
Eastern Tailed Blue (2)
Pearl Crescent (1)
American Lady (3)
Painted Lady (1)
Monarch (50+)
Silver-spotted Skipper (1)
Wild Indigo Duskywing (1) (fresh)
Fiery Skipper (3) (all males)
Sachem (4) (My first of the year and apparently the first ones seen at the
park this year; 3 males & 1 female)
Dori Sosensky, who arrived at the park earlier than me, reported that Bill
Banks had a Viceroy at the garden earlier in the day.
