Gave a little program on raising Monarchs at the Bauer Park Nature Center in Madison on Saturday. Didn't have much time to look around, and the skies were definitely overcast, but I did see a couple of Monarchs flying over the meadow, saw one Monarch caterpillar, one Copper Underwing caterpillar (ID'd using "Caterpillars of Eastern North America"--thanks, Dave!), a few Cabbage Whites, and a couple of skippers that didn't stick around long enough to ID. Seems like a very cool place. I'll spend more time there soon & research it as a possible field trip site!
