With apologies for the delay, the CBA field trip to West Rock last Sunday 4/26 was a lot of fun, and yielded eight butterflies. It was sunny and quite hot on the ridgetop, with about 25 participants (we filled the small parking lot!):

Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes) = 1
Cabbage White (Pieris rapae) = 5-10
Falcate Orangetip (Anthocharis midea) = 10+
Juniper Hairstreak (Callophrys grynea) = 5-10
Spring Azure (Celastrina ladon) = 10+
Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa) = 1
American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis) = 4-5
Juvenal's Diskywing (Erynnis juvenalis ) = 1

One female Vanessa virginensis observed ovipositing on Antennaria (Pussytoes).
