The Connecticut Butterfly Association is pleased to announce its May and
June, 2010 Field Trips.

Attached is a flyer listing these events. The content is also pasted in
below.

1) We ask print publications to include our trips in your calendars of
nature and community events.

2) We ask libraries and others with bulletin boards to open, print and post
the attachment and pass it along to anyone who might be interested. And
feel free to make additional copies as needed!

You are receiving this mailing because one or more of the activities is in
your area of Connecticut. Please consider that persons interested in field
observation of butterflies and other wildlife are often willing to travel
considerable distances to explore and share lore with like-minded folk.

CBA events are free and open to the public. For more information about CBA,
visit our website: www.ctbutterfly.org <http://www.ctbutterfly.org/> .

Respectfully,

West Rock Park, New Haven

Leader: Larry Gall (203) 454-4612

Look for early fliers, such as Falcate Orangetip, Brown Elfin, and Juniper
Hairstreak. The walking is mostly up an old roadway, with some trail hiking,
generally flat but rocky. Wear good hiking shoes and bring water.

Directions: Take Rte 15 (Merritt Pkwy) to Exit 59 (Rtes 63/69) exits). Go
toward New Haven. Turn left on Blake St., left on Farnam Ave, and left on
Wintergreen. Pass cemetery on right, angle left on Wintergreen, come to stop
sign and make right on Springside. At next stop sign; turn left back onto
Brookside (Wintergreen). Entrance to park is on left, parking lot is on
right, just before passing under Merritt Pkwy.

Saturday, May 15, 10 AM

seen in CT, including three elfins, Cherry Gall Azure, Sleepy Duskywing and
Cobweb Skipper. Wear good hiking shoes and bring water.

Directions: Meet at the commuter lot at the southeast corner of Windham
Airport on the north side of Rte 6. This lot is approximately 0.7 miles
west of the junction of Rte 6 and Rte 203. From there, we will walk along
the top of the dike to the open areas north of the airport.

Saturday, May 29, 10 AM
Trumbull Nature and Art Center, Trumbull

Leaders: Bill Banks (203) 888-0189 and Greg Hanisek

The property was formerly a Christmas tree farm, has a pond and adjacent
meadow, and a beautiful butterfly garden, created with help from CBA
members, Ruthie Mohr and Christine Cook. Mown pathways make walking easy for
all ages. In late May we’ll find many species, including swallowtails and an
assortment of skippers. Bring water and comfortable walking shoes.

Directions: From the Merritt Pkwy south toward NY, take exit 48 and bear
right onto Rt. 111 toward Monroe. Bear left onto Rt. 25 headed toward
Newtown. Pass Wakeman Nursery on the left and Tashua Rd on the right. The
