Wow--and I was excited that I saw one in Chester today! 
Mostly Silver-Spotted Skippers in the yard, but also finally saw my first of the year Giant Swallowtail! Also one Pipevine Swallowtail--could have been one that I released earlier in the week from a chrysalis that Maryann gave me. 
And a PILE of Milkweed Tussock caterpillars that completely denuded my butterflyweed!

8/17 I was surprised reading todays reports to find that no one posted any high numbers of PAINTED LADIES. I don't know where they all came from but at my home yard in Old Lyme today I counted 23 once and 27 the second time around. They were on verbena (purple), buddleia (four bushes all purple) and a low sort of bushy zinnia that is around my flag pole. I have had a half dozen round for the last week or more but nothing like today. I could not pick out any American Painted among them.
