6/3 - I took a quick ten minute walk at Osbornedale SP in Derby today and had the following species of butterfly:
Cabbage White 20+
Clouded Sulphur 1
Red-banded Hairstreak 1 (my FOY)
Eastern-tailed Blue 1
Summer Azure 1
Eastern Comma 1
Red Admiral 2
Little Wood Satyr 1
Least Skipper 2 my FOY
European Skipper 3 probably many more (my FOY)
Long Dash 1 (my FOY)
Zabulon Skipper 1 female
The hairsteak gave a weak flight in short grass near the first pond. Lucky I checked it; almost passed it off for another blue. No butterflies on the hackberry trees yet.
Also, for a few minutes along Raytkwich Rd in the Naugatuck Industrial Park, the notable species were:
Viceroy 1 seemed larger than normal
Northern Cloudywing 3+ my first here in a few years
Overall, 21 species for the day.
