Awfully purple also...Kind of suggests that the ventral coloration of the northern (Canadian and Hudsonian Zone) ssp toddi is the product of cold...?

Found this on a little leftover patch of snow in my yard this morning! A Meadow Fritillary. If I didn't have a photo providing irrefutable evidence, I'd have a hard time believing it myself!
