About a dozen people (and a Pandorus Sphinx) attended our annual trip to NAS Bent-of-the-River sanctuary in Southbury. We saw these things:

E. Tiger Swallowtails
Cabbage Whites
Clouded and Orange Sulphurs
Am. Copper
Eastern Tailed Blue
Summer Azures
GS Frits
Pearl Crescents
Eastern Commas
Red Admiral
Viceroy
N. Pearly Eye
Little Wood Saytrs
Common Wood Nymph-o-rama
Monarchs
Silver-spotted Skippers
Little Glassywings
Delaware Skippers
Dun Skippers

It’s National Moth Week!

A Pandorus Sphinx sat in Christine Cook’s hand the entire trip (and put back in the same spot it was found 2 and a half hours later)
Snowberry and Hummingbird Clearwings
A Confused Haploa!
Yellow-necked Scape Moths
Promethea Moth caterpillar
The Gypsys are going strong this year
Arched Hooktips

Roesel’s Katydids abound, as always…

Most importantly, a great group of people to spend a day afield with!

John
