Took a very rewarding walk this afternoon at Macricostas and later at the
riding ring of the Steep Rock Preserve and found the following:
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
Cabbage White -- This flight quite pristine with very yellow hindwings and
no black (except the spot) on the forewing
Clouded Sulphur -- With the white female form dominating
Gray Hairstreak -- The first I've seen in Steep Rock in half a dozen years
Eastern Tailed-Blue
Summer Azure
Great Spangled Fritillary -- FOY
Aphrodite Fritillary -- The only Speyeria species that stopped. This one
so fresh it's wings were still slightly kinked
Meadow Fritillary -- about a dozen. Never know which Boloria is going to
show up at Steep Rock; this year looks to be the year of the Meadow Frit
Pearl Crescent
Baltimore Checkerspot -- one cat but a dozen were seen yesterday
Eastern Comma
Red-spotted Purple
Viceroy
Little Wood-Satyr
Common Ringlet
Silver-spotted Skipper
European Skipper -- everywhere. Isn't it time for this flight to be over?
Peck's Skipper
Hobomok Skipper
