Hi Peri:
About 10 -12 years ago or so I was conducting bird surveys at the now defunct Rentschler Airfield in East Hartford.
I monitored that grassland bird population for 3 years and remember in one particular year we were overrun by Baltimores. They were everywhere. I am not sure if this is an annual occurrence or not but I had never seen so many Baltimores in one location until that day, and haven’t witnessed a flight like that anywhere since. I know there is plenty of Plantago on the property and now that part of the airfield has been commercially developed, public access is a little bit easier. I have cc’ed the CT leplist here to see if that jogs anyone’s memory as a reliable Balltimore spot.
Regards,
Anthony

There is a post-doc from the University of Colorado who needs help locating populations of the Baltimore. See her message below.

I'm looking for several Baltimore checkerspot populations that feed to varying degrees on Plantago. If you've got names of sites and the towns they're in, I can probably find them. Intersections would work too. I know this is terrible timing, and I hate to bother you with this! Perhaps Brigette or another CT contact knows some sites?

If you have any suggests please write to Peri Mason--she is copied on this email.
