<DIV>On Sunday, July 6th, I visited two sections of West Rock Ridge St. Park
where I found a total of 20 species of butterflies. The list is as follows
(Unless otherwise noted, sightings are from the Lake Wintergreen section of
the park):</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Spicebush Swallowtail (1)</DIV>
<DIV>Cabbage White (8)</DIV>
<DIV>Coral Hairstreak (2)</DIV>
<DIV>Edwards' Hairstreak (2) (On top of the ridge between Judges' Cave and the
tunnel)</DIV>
<DIV>Banded Hairstreak (10)</DIV>
<DIV>Hickory Hairstreak (1) (Judge's Cave) (I noticed that the blue area on the
hindwing was not only significantly larger than the orange spot; the blue patch
extended through the black line beneath the little cap just like the
specimen in Glassberg's 1993 edition of Butterflies through Binoculars, Pl. 9
fig. 5; I don't recall ever seeing a Banded Hairstreak where the blue patch
extended through the black line.)</DIV>
<DIV>Eastern Tailed-Blue (1)</DIV>
<DIV>Summer Azure (1) (overlook)</DIV>
<DIV>Great Spangled Fritillary (22)</DIV>
<DIV>American Lady (1)</DIV>
<DIV>Little Wood-Satyr (4)</DIV>
<DIV>Common Wood Nymph (36)</DIV>
<DIV>Silver-spotted Skipper (4)</DIV>
<DIV>Hoary Edge (3) (top of ridge)</DIV>
<DIV>Southern Cloudywing (2)</DIV>
<DIV>European Skipper (3)</DIV>
<DIV>Northern Broken Dash (3)</DIV>
<DIV>Little Glassywing (21)</DIV>
<DIV>Delaware Skipper (1)</DIV>
<DIV>Dun Skipper (2)</DIV>
