The position is<br class="">situated in project H4, "Modelling lexical diffusion in syntax: non-finite<br class="">complementation in Modern English". The starting date is between January 2022<br class="">and April 2022, by agreement. The position is available for two and a half<br class="">years (30 months).<br class=""><br class="">The candidate will be expected to conduct original research, using historical<br class="">corpora of Early Modern English and child language corpora, on the development<br class="">of patterns of non-finite complementation in English. Candidates are expected<br class="">to have:<br class=""> - a strong PhD in a relevant field (language acquisition, language contact,<br class="">historical linguistics), <br class=""> - excellent academic writing skills and fluency in English, and <br class=""> - experience in at least two of the following areas: historical linguistics,<br class="">syntax, corpus linguistics. <br class=""><br class="">Also desirable are:<br class=""> - experience with predictive quantitative models of acquisition<br class=""> - experience working with Early Modern English.<br class=""><br class="">Please apply via the application email below.
