Journal of Sociolinguistics</a><i> </i>is now inviting proposals for theme series.  A theme series is a collection of several original research articles on a particular theme that make, individually and collectively, significant contributions to sociolinguistics
 by raising novel questions or addressing current debates in the field.  We advise authors to read the
