There was a Japanese film from the early- to
mid-90s that played in NYC as part of a "recent films from Japan" series. I can
not remember the title nor the director, but the film was about a brother and
sister (she, around 20, he 25+) who live together after the parents pass away.
There's not much in terms of a story, but it rather focuses on the little
details in their lives. One recurring image is of the sister going to get fresh
tofu, walking with her silver pot to the outdoor market.

of the film? It's a beautiful film, and I'd love to track it down, if
possible.
