Dear Professor Gerow,

If there is a Japanese-language panel that someone is organizing to save, I am happy to offer my help in translating the scripts. I am unfortunately not trained in interpretation, so that would be beyond me, but if it would suffice to have the script translated, I should be able to do 1 or 2 depending on how early I get the scripts.
I have some experience translating academic materials from Japanese to English (although given the tight schedule, quality will have to be compromised somewhat).

Best.

Shota (090-4413-4685)

Some people have been trying to rescue a few of the special panels (many of which were in Japanese), but since these were mostly arranged separately, I don't know how this has all been communicated with those participants. The fact is that there will be no simultaneous translation--in fact no translation at all unless someone volunteers.

This will have to be a conference based on a lot of volunteer help. If there is a special panel you or someone else wants to save, I'm afraid it's going to require someone just taking the reins and working it through. Just let me, Markus and Akira Lippit know what you want to do.
One problem has arisen. The scholars, who were to deliver in Japanese,
were waiting for special directions, and at least the ones I know fro
Kansai area did not know what to do yesterday, meaning the missed the
included i the 1-day workshop?
