I'm doing this from memory, so could be completely wrong, but in Kohayagawa-ke no aki / End of Summer, 1961, didn't the plot involve dozens of journeys between Osaka and Kyoto, whilst the screen showed almost a complete absence of trains ? Would that be a planned absence, or could it have anything to do with it being a rare non-Shochiku film ? Were there any company tie-ups about filming on the tracks ?

Almudena - we had a long thread on 'train films' a couple of years back. You can mine them with great labour through the archive, but I've got the contributions rolled away somewhere, if you want to contact me off-list.
