      Kino Balazs has been around for about 15 years. I went to some of
      the early ones at Kino Kuche in Tachikawa and even gave an early
      talk on A Page of Madness there (the group gets an acknowledgement

                                『 波多野哲朗、1960年代を語る 』<br>
                                <br>
                                 60年代はあらゆる芸術のジャンルにおいて新しい表現が求められた前衛の時代であっ
                                た。その重要な拠点となったのが草月アートセンターで、第一線で活躍している芸術家が
                                集まって次々と作品を発表した。映画にも熱心で多くの特集上映が行われたが、商業映画
                                だけでなく自主制作の映画にも力を注いでいる。60年代後半にアンダーグラウンド映画
                                が流行するきっかけをつくったのも草月アートセンターであった。波多野哲朗氏は、先鋭
                                的な映画を発表していた勅使河原宏のもとで製作助手や助監督をするかたわら草月アート
                                センターの企画の仕事に携わっており、当時の状況に身近に接している。草月を離れたあ
                                とは、映画雑誌『シネマ69』を発行するなど映画批評の最前線にいた。実際に現場にい
                                た立場から波多野氏に話を聞くことで、映画にとっても激動の時代であった60年代がど
                                のようなものであったかを改めて考えてみたい。(西村智弘)<br>

                                 60年代初頭から勅使河原宏のもとで映画制作に従事しつつ草月アートセンターの仕事
                                に関わる。草月を離れた1969年に山根貞男、手島修三と映画雑誌『シネマ69』を創
                                刊(71年まで刊行)。この時期の他の仕事に、シェルドン・レナンの『アンダーグラウ
                                ンド映画』の翻訳、戦後の代表的な映画批評を6巻に収めた『戦後日本映画理論体系』の
                                編集などがある。2007年には7年越しの長編ドキュメンタリー映画『サルサとチャン
                                プルー』を完成させた。日本大学芸術学部大学院講師、東京造形大学名誉教授。<br>
