normal"><span style="font-family:Palatino">Visual Culture and Media in East
Asia</span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family:Palatino"><o:p> </o:p></span>The Cogut Center for the
Humanities at Brown University and the Departments of East Asian Studies and
Modern Culture and Media invite applications for a two-year (2011-2013)
postdoctoral appointment in the study of visual culture in modern East Asia.
Priority will be given to candidates whose research and teaching
offer historical and theoretical approaches to the role of cinematic, digital,
and/or televisual media in national and transnational cultural formations
originating in modern China and/or modern Korea. The Fellow will offer one
course each semester of the two-year appointment and will participate in an
ongoing seminar, which he or she will help organize, at the Cogut Center
for the Humanities. Applicants should have received their doctorate, from an
institution other than Brown University, within the last five years.

will begin July 1, 2011, or as soon as possible thereafter. Ph.D or
equivalent is required by the time of appointment. Interested candidates should
