I had the honor of meeting Takamine Hideko, and translating for her, when she and Matsuyama Zenzo were featured at the Hawaii International Film Festival. (They had a condo in Hawaii.) I still recall her strong presence (I was somewhat frightened of her directness!) and how sweet her husband was. I opened the newspaper here in Japan today and saw she had passed on. I only hope I can see many tributes to this great actress in the coming months. Linda Ehrlich<br>
