courses in his/her area of specialization, undergraduate courses in
modern Japanese literature and culture, courses in film or visual

both undergraduate and graduate students. Minimum qualifications:
In hand by the time of the appointment, a Ph.D. in modern or
contemporary Japanese literature, with demonstrated expertise in
film/visual culture. High level of proficiency in Japanese and
English. For senior appointment, strong record of publication in
refereed journals or books. Desirable qualifications: Research
focus that includes film/media studies and/or popular culture. A
background in cultural studies. Experience teaching Japanese
language. Should be flexible enough to work in both traditional
areas of studies and an interdisciplinary environment. Salary and
