Just looking at the production company details for these films makes me wonder if there are some clashes between the producers about distribution (particularly with Mosfilm I wouldn't be surprised). Then again, Rhapsody in August came in for a lot of criticism for being anti-American. Donald Richie certainly told me that that was a dominant (not his necessarily) US reading of the film.<div>
