<div><br></div>Hi all,<div><br></div><div>I am researching the stage/film comedian Yokoyama Entatsu and, in particular, the nature of the work he did during a 6-month stay in the United States in 1929-'30. His experiences of comedy shows on burlesque stages in the U.S. are supposed to have influenced him as he "modernized" manzai later on.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Has anyone done any research into what he actually did/saw during his time in the U.S.?</div><div>If so, I would love to hear from you on- or off-list.</div><div><br></div><div><div>I've read all I could find at the Diet Library. Descriptions of the U.S. trip tend to be sketchy...</div>
</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks very much.</div><div><br></div><div>Edan</div><div><br></div><div><br clear="all"><div><br></div>-- <br>Recent articles in The Japan Times: <a href="http://bit.ly/vbcIVM" target="_blank">http://bit.ly/vbcIVM</a><br>
