<html><head></head><body><div style="font-family: Verdana;font-size: 12.0px;"><div>Hi Susanne,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Films that feature characters with disabilities / impairments (a pretty broad category) are very common in Japan, not only in documentary but also in entertainment film. In the latter this is frequently a gendered protrayal, especially since the 1990s – good examples are Jose, The Tiger and the Fish (Innudo Isshin, 2003), or I Just Wanna Hug You (Dakishimetai, Shinjitsu no Monogatari, Shiota Akihiko, 2014), but there are many, many, others.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>In terms of documentary I think Hara Kazuo's Sayonara CP (1972) hasn't been named yet. More recently Sasaki Makoto shot the short documentary Minority to Sex ni Kan suru, 2,3, no Jirei (2008), which he recently followed up with Minority to Sex ni Kan Suru Gokushi-teki Renai Eiga (2015).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Hope this helps,</div>
<div>Alex</div>
