animations from MURATA Yasuji, different from those shown in 2011, as well as <i>Nipponichi
momotaro</i>, 1928 by YAMAMOTO Sanae. Earlier in the week in another slot,
there’s the 1917 <i>Namakura gatana</i> by KOUCHI Junichi, which I have only
seen on a very small screen at the permanent exhibition at Kyōbashi. On Thursday
6<sup>th</sup> in the ‘City Symphonies’ strand, there’s <i>Fukkō teito shinfonī</i>,
<i>Symphony on the Rebuilding of the Imperial Metropolis</i>, 1928, a
dawn-to-dusk essay commissioned by <span style="color:black">Tōkyō shisei chōsa
kai [Tokyo Institute for Municipal Research]</span>.</span></div>

‘rediscoveries’ slot also sees the reprisal of <i>I Was Born, but …</i>, 1931.<span>  </span>That seems to be very prescient piece of
programming with a second excellent reworking of Ozu’s film being on release
this week in London.</span></div>
