Dr. Yamazato was a doctor in Okinawa, but his real love was cinema. The result of his years of involvement in film was the book *Anʾyatasa! : Okinawa, sengo no eiga : 1945-1955*, a fascinating account of the first decade of film after the war in a place that was crazy about film. You know Kokusai Dori in Naha? That was not named "International Avenue" because of some international friendship initiative. It was named after the Kokusai Film Theater. Dr. Yamazato treated both my family and me to some wonderful nights out on the town when we visited Okinawa. I want to thank him both personally and as a film scholar. </div></div></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><a href="https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.worldcat.org_title_anyatasa-2Dokinawa-2Dsengo-2Dno-2Deiga-2D1945-2D1955_oclc_48973852-26referer-3Dbrief-5Fresults&d=DQMFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=e7qMG9KFq7WNnPQWULWHJA&m=-X4kS3cOKkzlAjLYgsTuCklmWIPHBXk_3GS3_lpz4Qc&s=w47ekMY1eFY58EVgvpIsAjz2eJ5WcD3MFYX5vkJl73U&e=" class="">http://www.worldcat.org/title/anyatasa-okinawa-sengo-no-eiga-1945-1955/oclc/48973852&referer=brief_results</a><br class=""><br class=""><div class=""><div class="" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; line-height: normal; border-spacing: 0px;"><div class="" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2; border-spacing: 0px;"><div class="" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: -webkit-auto; border-spacing: 0px;"><div class="" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: -webkit-auto; border-spacing: 0px;"><div class="" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: -webkit-auto; border-spacing: 0px;"><div class="" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; line-height: normal; border-spacing: 0px;"><div class="" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; line-height: normal; border-spacing: 0px;"><div class="" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; line-height: normal; border-spacing: 0px;"><div class="" style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><div class="">Aaron Gerow<br class="">Professor<br class="">Film and Media Studies Program/East Asian Languages and Literatures</div><div class="">Director of Graduate Studies, EALL<br class="">Yale University<br class="">320 York Street, Room 311<br class="">PO Box 208324<br class="">New Haven, CT 06520-<span class="" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px;">8324</span><br class="">USA<br class="">Phone: 1-203-432-7082<br class="">Fax: 1-203-432-6729<br class="">e-mail: <a href="mailto:aaron.gerow@yale.edu" class="">aaron.gerow@yale.edu</a></div><div class="">website: <a href="https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.aarongerow.com&d=DQMFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=e7qMG9KFq7WNnPQWULWHJA&m=-X4kS3cOKkzlAjLYgsTuCklmWIPHBXk_3GS3_lpz4Qc&s=yC9UuEr-vzNDHYAiPIDTt5MocTAeamDDENlY4gf_PRY&e=" class="">www.aarongerow.com</a></div></div></span></div></span></div></span></div></span></div></span></div></span></div></span></div></span></div></div></body></html>
