<div>Hello everyone,<div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">I mentioned in an email recently that my book on Suzuki Seijun will be coming out next month. I’ve been speaking with Japan Foundation, and they have set aside some money to arrange to have some Suzuki films available in 35mm in North America. They will pay international shipping fees for the following six films, and screening rights for up to 18 screenings total:</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Satan’s Town (Akuma no macho, 1956)</div><div dir="auto">Love Letter (Rabu retā, 1959)</div><div dir="auto">Carmen from Kawachi (Kawachi no karumen, 1966)</div><div dir="auto">Tokyo Drifter (Tokyo Nagaremono, 1966)</div><div dir="auto">A Tale of Sorrow and Sadness (Hishū monogatari, 1977)</div><div dir="auto">Kagero-za (1981)</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">They will be available in the US between October 2022 and March 2023, and in Canada thereafter.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">If you have any interest in booking one or more of these films at your campus cinema or a nearby cinematheque, please let me know and we can try to make arrangements. I know I’ve spoken to some of you about this already, but I wanted to spread the word further in case anyone is interested.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">I’m also happy to provide more information about the films, as some of them are not very well known.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Thanks,</div><div dir="auto">Will</div>
