Basically both attendance and total box office were up by a slight amount, and Japanese films still commanded about 67% of the market. The number of films released also rose. The top 5 Japanese films at the box office were, in order:</span><div class=""><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;" class=""><br class=""> The First Slam Dunk</span><br class=""><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;" class=""> Detective Conan</span><br class=""><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;" class=""> The Boy and the Heron </span><br class=""><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;" class=""> Kingdom</span><br class=""><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;" class=""> Godzilla Minus One </span></div><div class=""><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;" class=""><br class="">Again, animated films took the top three slots. For "art" films, Koreeda's Monster was number 21 and Kitano's Kubi was number 29.
