</span><span style="color: black;">Balázs discussed is <i>Black Roses</i> (Colin Campbell, 1921). Tsuru Aoki plays Hayakawa's "long-lost" wife in this crime film. The film was released in France (<i>Les Roses noires</i>) in the same year. Because "The Face
of Man" by Balázs was published in 1924, the timing seems correct. I am afraid I have never had a chance to watch the film even though Wikipedia says the Cinematheque francaise owns the print of the film (I hope it's true!). </span></div>
