Graduate Student Life (SL) @ the McDougal Grad Center seeks grad student Fellows
to organize programs in the areas of Family; Arts, Literary & Music; Blue Dog
Café; Family; Public Service (NEW this year); Social; Sports; Wellness; and
Coordinating. Participation as a McDougal Student Life Family Fellow is an
outstanding way to meet new people, especially other grad parents, develop
leadership and administrative skills, gain useful experience for your resume or
CV, explore specific academic, professional and social interests, and contribute
to the graduate experience by building a community of student parents. SL
Fellows receive training, shared office space and $4,100 honorarium for the
year.
Student Life Fellows work approx 5-7 hours a week on a relatively flexible
schedule, with 2 people in a program area, as listed above. Fellows also work
together on large events, and help lead GSAS New student Orientation in August
2007.
We welcome applications from continuing degree-seeking students in the Graduate
School of Arts and Sciences, and in some cases from continuing students in a
relevant Yale Professional School. Grad student parents are especially
encouraged to apply for the Family Fellow program area. You must plan to be
registered and in residence in New Haven Aug 2007-May 2008 to apply. Please see
web info and application page below for details and eligibility. Email
mcdougal.center at yale.edu for more info if needed.

Register for Subsidized Back-Up Child Care for Yale parents
www.yale.edu/backupcare
WorkLife administers a program to provide in-home, back-up childcare services
for Yale faculty, staff, and students. Caregivers On Call, an established
provider of back-up child care since 1991, now provides eligible members of the
Yale community with up to 40 hours of services per household per year at
subsidized rates. These services are intended to assist parents in arranging
care for their children when their usual caregivers are not available, e.g.,
because of center or school closings or caregiver
illnesses.
The University will provide substantial subsidies to the program, which will
allow Caregivers On Call to offer sliding scale, hourly rate to parents
ranging from $7 for grad/prof students, up to $15/hour for some fac/staff,
depending upon the parents' Yale affiliation and income. Complete details
regarding the back-up care service and registration materials are available
online at www.yale.edu/backupcare
NOTE: You must Register for the Service IN ADVANCE of requesting it, so sign up
now!
