University Commons Dining Hall (Prospect at Grove
St.)
The third annual Yale Chili Throw-Down competition is
Dec 1 at Univ. Commons Dining Hall from 12pm-1:30pm.
It's a $5 suggested donation at the door, which goes to
United Way of Greater New Haven to support their work
with children, youth, employment and other causes in our
area. From noon to 1:30pm, Commons will open its doors
to all chili cooks and connoisseurs for sampling &
voting. The Chili Champion will have his or her recipe
featured as an official item on all Yale Dining menus.

 Introducing: the Arts &
Culture Fellows
To help you attach names to faces, and to get to know
a little about the Fellows behind your events, tips, and
announcements, we will be using this new section of the
Notes to introduce to you the 19 Fellows of this year's
Student Life Fellows team. Each week we will feature
Fellows from a different program area. This week we'd
like you to meet the Arts & Culture Fellows, our hosts
of Talent Tuesdays and Grad Night @ the Rep.

Arts & Culture Fellow
Bianca is a fourth-year student in the History PhD
program. She focuses on Mexican immigration to the US
South and recently began work on her dissertation. She is
originally from San Antonio, Texas, and has degrees from
Texas Tech University and the University of North Texas.
This is her third year as a McDougal Graduate Student Life
fellow and she loves every minute of it! She especially
enjoys the chance to read non-academic books for pleasure
for the Grad Student Book Club, which meets once a month
and has great discussions (and cookies!). In her free
time, Bianca likes to watch lots of TV, read, and play
video games (like Skyrim, her most recent purchase). She
looks forward to meeting many more of her fellow grad
students at upcoming McDougal events and wishes everyone a
relaxing Fall break!

& Culture Fellow
Meryl is from outside of Boston and is in the second year
of a masters program in the School of Music. She plays the
bassoon and hopes to make a career of it. When she's not
practicing or making reeds, you can find Meryl teaching,
running, knitting, cooking, or scheming for new events.
She loves eating cheese and chocolate, and drinking
coffee, but not necessarily all together. She is excited
about wearing her poodle skirt for the Grease singalong
next week.
