Upcoming Event:

KlezKamp RoadShow
presented by Living Traditions in conjunction with
YIVO Institute for Jewish Research and Uriel Weinreich / NYU Program in Yiddish
Language Literature and Culture

Sunday, July 13th | 12:30-8:30 PM
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For all of you who either have wanted to go to KlezKamp but
have not been able to attend for a full week, and for all of you who have asked
us to bring KlezKamp to New York City,
this is a golden opportunity to get a taste of the rich Yiddish arts and
culture we celebrate.
The KlezKamp RoadShow will feature
classes on Yiddish culture, including the history of Yiddish radio,
Yiddish women's songs, Yiddish dance instruction, a panel discussion
(in Yiddish) with members of our senior community, a survey of the
history of papercutting and Yiddish visual arts and all culminating in
a blowout dance party and concert. The KlezKamp RoadShow faculty
includes some of the brightest names in today's Yiddish culture
including singer/artist Susan Leviton, master dance instructor Steve
Weintraub, musicians Michael Winograd (clarinet), Pete Sokolow
(keyboard) and David Levitt (trombone), and headed by KlezKamp founder
and award-winning Yiddish culture scholar Henry Sapoznik, along with
the director of the Summer Program, Hershl Glasser. See below for a complete schedule.
The Living Traditions 2007-08 KlezKamp RoadShow in NYC is funded by a generous grant
from the New York State Council on the Arts.
