To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests:

1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance.

2. Send material as plain text to victor.bers at yale.edu as plain text (no
HTML, other coding, or attachments and write MENDELE PERSONALS in the
subject line.

3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has posted

I would like to let the list know of a new book of poetry by the Yiddish
writer Chava Rosenfarb. The book is called Exile at Last: Selected Poems.
Chava Rosenfarb translated most of these poems herself. I translated a few
of the poems and some of the poems were written directly in English and
have never before been published. The poems are taken from her three books
of poetry in Yiddish, including some of the poems that she wrote in the
Lodz ghetto and published after the war in her first book of verse called
Geto un andere lider. The book also contains an introductory essay by
Rosenfarb about the sense of alienation she felt living in Canada after the
Holocaust. The book is available from the publisher, as well as from
amazon. Here is the website:

For those living in Montreal, there will be a launch of the book at the
Blue Metropolis Literary Festival on Sunday, April 28th, at 5pm. The event
is free and all are welcome.
