Mendele Personal Notices and Announcements

________________________________

 June 3, 2014

To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests:

1.Send time-sensitive notices well in advance.

2. Send material as plain text to victor.bers at yale.edu as plain text (no
HTML, other coding, or attachments and write MENDELE PERSONALS in the
subject line.

3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has posted
the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames.

Friends, I can finally announce that Stutchkoff's book "Mame-loshn" has
appeared and can be ordered on Amazon for just $15. The text includes 400
pages of explanations and anecdotes about Yiddish words and expressions,
written by one of our greatest experts, Nahum Stutchkoff, the author of the
Thesaurus of the Yiddish Language. Together with Amanda Miryem-Khaye Seigel
I added a scholarly introduction and comprehensive bibliography of
Stutchkoff's works. Professor Chava Lapin added a preface. As Stutchkoff
himself would have said: This is an ornament for every Jewish home!
