FOR RESEARCH PAPERS<BR>"Planting Seeds of Our Research"<BR><BR>This conference
is jointly sponsored by the Institute for<BR>American Indian Research
under<BR>the College of Arts and Sciences, Native American<BR>Studies, Society
of Native American Graduate Students,<BR>Native American Studies<BR>Indigenous
Research Group, and the Indigenous Nations<BR>Library Program at the University
of New Mexico.<BR><BR>We invite currently enrolled graduate students
from<BR>U.S./Latin American and other<BR>International universities who
are<BR>Indigenous/Indian/Native from ALL Disciplines to<BR>submit and present
research papers at this pilot<BR>conference.<BR><BR>Six graduate students, from
institutions besides UNM, will<BR>receive $700 scholarships [to<BR>help cover
the costs of presenting at this conference. To<BR>be considered for a
scholarship,<BR>we request the following:<BR><BR>Full Research Abstract or
completed research paper with<BR>bibliography; a letter<BR>of intent that
includes an introduction of yourself as to<BR>why you want to present
your<BR>paper and attend the conference; a budget of how you would<BR>spend the
scholarship money;<BR>and one letter sent directly to IfAIR (postal or
email)<BR>from a University faculty mentor<BR>about your Research and Graduate
standing. Include your<BR>contact information, (e.g. phone<BR>and email) so that
we can send you notification about the<BR>scholarship decisions and
other<BR>conference-related information.<BR><BR>All graduate students who are
not applying for a<BR>scholarship should submit a full abstract<BR>or completed
paper with bibliography, and contact<BR>information to be considered

Research is<BR>to facilitate research that<BR>contributes to the decolonization,
sovereignty, and<BR>self-determination of Indigenous<BR>peoples by providing
initiatives that support such<BR>research endeavors.<BR><BR>IFAIR promotes
community-inspired, service-oriented<BR>scholarship that seeks a link<BR>with
the university to Native American/Indian Nations and<BR>communities that
generate<BR>discussion of Indigenous issues both within the university<BR>and in
