Consortium<BR>Graduate Student Conference and Paper Competition<BR>Purdue
University, West Lafayette, Indiana<BR>April 3-5, 2008<BR>Deadline for receipt
of abstracts and prize competition papers is March <BR>15, 2008.<BR><BR>Graduate
students from CIC institutions are encouraged to present papers <BR>in any
academic field relating to American Indian Studies. To be <BR>included in
the program please submit a title and 50-75 word abstract.<BR><BR>To enter the
competition, submit two copies of your paper. All <BR>competitors must
present their papers at the conference. Four cash <BR>prizes will be
awarded: First place $100, Second place $50, Third place <BR>(2 awarded)
$50.<BR><BR>Students are not required to enter the prize competition to present
a <BR>paper. If you are not competing, you need only send your title and

Susan Kelly Power and Helen Hornbeck Tanner Fellowship<BR>Deadline March 1,
2008<BR>This fellowship for Ph.D. candidates and post-doctoral scholars of
<BR>Indian heritage supports up to two months of residential research, <BR>using
the collections of the Newberry Library, and provides a stipend of <BR>$1600 per
month. Applicants for this fellowship need not be from outside <BR>the Chicago

2008<BR>This fellowship is for women of Indian heritage. While candidates for
<BR>this award may be working in any graduate or pre-professional field, the
<BR>particular goal of the Allen Fellowship is to encourage Indian women in
<BR>their studies of the humanities and social sciences. Financial support
<BR>varies according to need and may include travel expenses. Allen Fellows
<BR>are expected to spend a significant part of their tenure in residence at
<BR>the Newberry's D'Arcy McNickle Center for American Indian History. The
<BR>tenure of the fellowship is from one month to one year; the fellowship
<BR>provides up to $8,000 in approved expenses. Please note: applicants for
<BR>the Allen Fellowship must fill out a supplementary form in addition to
