The Department of Teacher Education at the University of Oregon College of
Education is seeking to fill an open-rank tenure-related professor position in
Native-American Studies in Education.<br>
Minimum Qualifications:<br>
- Doctorate in education or a related field.<br>
- Demonstrated general knowledge of educational issues affecting
Native-American, First Nation, and/or indigenous students and communities.<br>
- Demonstrated expertise about the educational needs and experiences of
Native-American students and communities, such as: the history of
Native-American education in North America, current public and educational
policy affecting the education of Native-American students, theories of
governance and sovereignty as they relate to educational processes, the role
educational institutions play in processes of colonization and cultural
genocide, the role indigenous educational practice can play in resisting
colonization and cultural genocide, educational practices tailored to the needs
of Native-American and First Nation students, teacher education practice that
prepare all teachers to serve Native-American students, the representation of
North American indigenous cultures in public school curriculum, Native-American
language revitalization policy and curriculum, etc.<br>
- Evidence of a sustained commitment to the education of Native-American and
First Nation students, to collaboration with Native-American communities in
educational projects, and/or to respecting the sovereign rights of North
American Indigenous peoples as established by federal treaties.<br>
- Evidence of a commitment to intersectional analysis of oppression, including,
but not limited to the interacting influences of gender, race, class,
sexuality, (dis)ability, culture, and indigenous identity on educational
experience.<br>
- Evidence of ability to conduct research leading to publication.<br>
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness.<br>
- Ability to work with students and faculty in a variety of disciplines.<br>
- Commitment to working with diverse populations.<br>
