Indigenous Studies Department invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track,
assistant professor in archaeology or related field beginning August 17, 2009.
Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in Anthropology, Applied Indigenous
Studies, or related field in hand by August, 2009; active research in applied
indigenous studies or archaeologically-oriented Heritage Management; and
prepared to teach courses in archaeology and applied indigenous studies. The
successful candidate will be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate
courses, including an archaeology core course for Anthropology majors,
Indigenous Cultural Resource Management, and courses in Applied Indigenous
Studies. We seek a scholar with proficiency in archaeological method, theory,
indigenous-centered cultural resource management and applied practice who works
with, or has recently worked with, one or more indigenous communities.

style='font-size:12.0pt;line-height:200%'>Preference will be given to
candidates with expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas:
indigenous cultural resource management, repatriation, law and policy, tribal
resource development, public archaeology, museums and cultural centers, or
historic preservation; and who have one or more methods or materials
specializations in archaeology, Native American Studies, or a related field.
Preferred candidates will also have demonstrated excellence in teaching, and
willingness to help fulfill university teaching commitments, such as liberal
studies and web-delivered instruction. Preferred candidates will demonstrate
potential for participation in NAU's applied anthropology program and in the
Department of Applied Indigenous Studies while also demonstrating commitment to
working effectively with diverse students, staff, and communities. Salary is
commensurate with qualifications and experience.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
