</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-US link=blue vlink=purple><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal>Connecticut State Archeologist – Assistant Extension Professor, UConn<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The Connecticut State Museum of Natural History and Archaeology Center, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, University of Connecticut, Storrs, invites applications for a full-time State Archaeologist, as a non-tenure track faculty Assistant Extension Professor of Anthropology, who will be responsible for all aspects of the Office of State Archaeology work as mandated in the Connecticut state statutes, including cultural resource preservation, field and laboratory methods, research, public education and administrative services.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Responsibilities include: cultural resource management review of economic development proposals to assist municipal governments; responding to inquiries for information from resources, land managers and the general public; providing public education and training; state-wide site visits and field reviews; salvage archaeological field work and collection of archaeological materials; technical assistance to law enforcement agencies, including possible court testimonies; representation of the archaeological community to the electronic and print media; office management and other duties as assigned. The State Archaeologist will assist Museum staff in planning archaeological exhibits and programs; curate the university’s Anthropological Collections; provide supervision to undergraduate and graduate students; and provide academic services in areas of expertise to the Anthropology Department.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Minimal Qualifications: <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>1. PhD in Anthropology or Archaeology at time of appointment, and at least 3 years relevant experience.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>2. Background in Northeast North American Archaeology and have a working knowledge in Pre- and Post-Contact Archaeology. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>3. Familiar with archaeological field and laboratory procedures and methods; should have experience working with artifacts and ethnographic materials.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact productively with a diverse group of colleagues; organizational and time-management skills.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>5. Experience with cultural resource management and demonstrate knowledge of historic preservation law/legislation at the federal, state and local levels.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Preferred Qualifications:<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>1. Experience curating anthropological/archaeological collections.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>2. Forensic archaeology background.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>3.
