COLLECTIONS MANAGER, TULANE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY


Tulane University seeks a Collections Manager for the Tulane Museum of
Natural History.  The Museum is located in Belle Chasse, LA, 15 miles south
of New Orleans (for more information about the Museum, please visit our web
site at www.museum.tulane.edu). The primary responsibility for this
position is managing daily operations of the Tulane Fish Collection, a
"National Center of Ichthyology Resource Collection" with over 7 million
specimens. Typical duties in the Fish Collection include accessioning and
computer-cataloging new collections, responding to inquiries, processing
loans, and assisting professional visitors.  Other responsibilities include
overseeing the work of two grant-supported curatorial assistants,
maintaining the Fish Collection's electronic catalog, and assisting the
curators of other collections in the Museum (Mammalogy, Herpetology, and
Invertebrates).  Applicants must have a B.A./B.S. in biological sciences,
with training in general ichthyology, and at least two years experience
with ichthyological collections, curatorial procedures, supplies and
equipment.  Expertise with microcomputers is strongly desired.
