Laboratory Supervisor (Mammalogy)

The Department of Mammalogy at the American Museum of Natural History is
seeking a laboratory supervisor to run the Department's osteological
preparation laboratory and dermestid beetle colony, under the direction of
the Department's curators and collection management staff. The chosen
candidate will process specimens from the four collections of the AMNH
Division of Vertebrate Zoology (Mammalogy, Ornithology, Herpetology, and
Icthyology), clean and label skeletons, and participate in curation. In
addition, the laboratory supervisor will be responsible for maintenance of
the Department of Mammalogy's frozen tissue collection, and for processing
loans of material from this collection. Other duties within the Department
may include participation in collection moves, pest management activities,
verification of database entries, and supervision of volunteer staff.
Additional duties may be assigned by the Curator-in-Charge.

A BA/BSc in biology or a related field and experience of skeleton
preparation is required. Computer skills and a background in systematics
and/or vertebrate morphology are desirable, as is experience or working
with museum collections.

The starting salary for the position is in the region of $32,000 per annum.
